Daniel Joseph Pung died Sunday, April 14, 2024, of complications from pneumonia. He was 58 years old. Dan was a wonderful husband, loving son, supportive brother, favorite uncle, and loyal friend.
Raised in Portland, Michigan, Dan was the eldest of 5 siblings and the eldest cousin of 38 in a close-knit extended family. He graduated from St. Patrick’s School in 1983. A graduate of Michigan State University, Dan’s early career was in social work for Newaygo County, Michigan. After moving to Colorado and later to Phoenix, Arizona, Dan had an extensive career with Wells Fargo in project management where he was regarded as an esteemed colleague and supportive mentor. His genuine interest in people and sense of adventure took him backpacking through Europe, snowboarding in the Rockies, and scuba diving in the Caribbean and other tropical destinations. A wonderful cook, he enjoyed a good game of poker, video gaming with family online, and a round of golf or a coffee meet-up with close friends, especially Don, Isaac, Sanjeev and Nikki. With a generous heart, he always made time to sincerely listen; a gift to all who knew him.
Dan married Mindy, the love of his life, in 2007, who preceded him in death in 2021. He is survived by parents Lawrence and Ann Marie Pung, brother Christopher (Janet) Pung, brother Karl Pung, sister Rhonda (Craig) MacAllister, brother Nathan (Kristin) Pung, and nine nieces and nephews: Kaitlyn (Tyler) Kramer, Alaina Pung, Jacob Pung, Olivia Pung, Addison Pung, Nicholas Pung, Corbin Pung, Eustacia MacAllister, and Quinne MacAllister; and one grandnephew – Isaac Kramer.
Dan’s laughter and joy for life will be dearly missed. The consummate host and thoroughly caring soul to the very end, he generously donated his organs upon his death to allow others to continue on their life’s journeys.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Daniel’s passing. I only worked with him for a short time, but I knew him to be a smart, capable, and kind person. He was well regarded by his colleagues here at Wells Fargo, and his presence will be greatly missed by many. Please know that my thoughts are with all of his family and friends. I hope the shared fond memories you have of Daniel will provide a degree of comfort to offset the grief of his passing.
Peace and blessings,
Russ Wright

I had the privilege of growing up with Dan. The farms along with gun lake were our play grounds and it was the best of times and Dan will allways be the best cousin, friend, and person that could be. Always will be thinking of you. 😃
